Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And it is no joke. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
