The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
