The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
