The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
