Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
