Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, weary, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
