Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
