Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
