Al-Shams

The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 And by oath of the moon when it follows the sun 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 And the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness]. 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
