The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 But save him who fears 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
