The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
