Al-A 'araaf 12 of 24

And We did not send a prophet in a town but We overtook its people with distress and affliction in order that they might humble themselves. 94 Then We changed the evil for the good, until they increased in number and in wealth, and said: "Our fathers were touched with evil (loss of health and calamities) and with good (prosperity, etc.)." So We seized them of a sudden while they were unaware. 95 And if the people of the towns had believed and guarded (against evil) We would certainly have opened up for them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they rejected, so We overtook them for what they had earned. 96 Are the people of the townships then secure from the coming of Our wrath upon them as a night-raid while they sleep? 97 Or, do the people of those towns feel secure that Our punishment will not come to them by daylight while they are at play? 98 Can they remain secure against the plan of God? Only they feel secure against the plan of God who are certain of being ruined. 99
