Do not think Allah is heedless of the evil deeds in which the evil-doers are engaged. He is merely granting them respite until a Day when their eyes shall continue to stare in horror, 42 when they shall run with necks outstretched and heads erect, their glances never returned on themselves, their hearts void. 43 And warn people of the day when the chastisement shall come to them, then those who were unjust will say: O our Lord! respite us to a near term, (so) we shall respond to Thy call and follow the apostles. What! did you not swear before (that) there will be no passing away for you! 44 And yet, you dwelt in the dwelling-places of those who had sinned against their own selves [before your time,] and it was made obvious to you how We had dealt with them: for We have set forth unto you many a parable [of sin, resurrection and divine retribution]." 45 They hatched their plots; but these plots were all within God's knowledge. Though their plots were such as to shake the mountains, God will bring their plots to nothing. 46 So never think that Allah will fail in His promise to His messengers. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Owner of Retribution. 47 One day the earth will be changed to a different earth, and so will be the heavens, and (men) will be marshalled forth, before Allah, the One, the Irresistible; 48 And thou wilt see the guilty on that Day bound together in fetters. 49 Their garments of liquid pitch and their faces covered by the Fire. 50 This is how God will recompense each soul for its deeds. God's reckoning is swift. 51 This is a message for mankind. Let them take warning from it and know that He is but one God. Let those possessed of understanding may take heed. 52
