'We come to give you glad tidings of a knowledgeable child' 53 Said he: "Do you give me this glad tiding despite the fact that old age has overtaken me? Of what [strange thing,] then, are you giving me a tiding!" 54 They said, "We have, indeed, given you glad tidings in truth; do not therefore despair." 55 "Who would despair of the mercy of his Lord," he answered, "but those who go astray." 56 [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 57 They said, 'We have been sent unto a people of sinners, 58 excepting the folk of Lot; them we shall deliver 59 except his wife. We have decreed that she will be among those who remain behind [and will be lost]. 60
