[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shuaib said to all of them, “Do you not fear?” 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure and do not diminish the goods of people, 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 And do not withhold from people what belongs to them, and do not corrupt the land; 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 185 you are only a mortal like us. Indeed we believe that you are an utter liar. 186 Let a part of the sky fall on us if what you say is true". 187 He said: My Lord knows best what you do. 188 But they cried him lies; then there seized them the chastisement of the Day of Shadow; assuredly it was the chastisement of a dreadful day. 189 Verily in that is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
