And most surely this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. 192 The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that [so many] learned men from among the children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 So it will come upon them suddenly, whilst they will be unaware. 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Seek haste then they with our torment? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 And then cometh that which they were promised, 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 If they do not obey you, tell them: "I am not responsible for what you do." 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 Who give ear, and most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets -- it is the misled who follow them. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
