Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 Then We evacuated there from all the believers 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate. 40 In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, 41 It left not aught whereon it came but it made it as matter decayed. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And before them the nation of Noah, indeed they were a debauched nation. 46
