(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled? 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 And Thamud, and did not leave them, 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 About which of the bounties of your Lord can they persistently dispute? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
