The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Most Merciful 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 Has created Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) as the soul of mankind. 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures, 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
