A multitude from the ancients. 39 And a company of the later peoples. 40 The Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 and persisted in heinous sins. 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 And also our forefathers? 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 Are going to be assembled on the appointed time of a Day Known. 50 Then you erring ones, you that cried lies, 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you seen that which you emit? 58 Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 Had We so wished, nothing could have hindered Us from replacing you by others like yourselves, or transforming you into beings you know nothing about. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 Ponder upon the soil you till, 63 Is it you who cause it to grow - or are We the cause of its growth? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 (Saying): "We are indeed Mughramun (i.e. ruined or lost the money without any profit, or punished by the loss of all that we spend for cultivation, etc.)! [See Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 17, Page 219] 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
