Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Blessed be He in whose Hand is the Kingdom, He is powerful over all things, 1 Who created death and life that He might try you as to which of you is better in deed. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Forgiving; 2 who created the seven heavens, one above the other. You cannot see any inconsistency in the creation of the Merciful. Return your gaze, do you see any crack! 3 Then return thy gaze again, and again, and thy gaze comes back to thee dazzled, aweary. 4 And we have, (from of old), adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps, and We have made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire. 5 The chastisement of Hell awaits those who disbelieve in their Lord. What a wretched destination! 6 When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath even as it blazes forth, 7 as though bursting with rage. Each time a group is cast into it, its keepers will ask them, "Did no warner come to you?" 8 They will say: yea! surely there came a warner unto us, but we belied, and said: God hath not sent down aught, we are naught but in a great error. 9 And they will say, "If only we had been listening or reasoning, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze." 10 So they shall confess their sin. Far away they be, the fellows of the Blaze! 11 Those who fear their Lord in secret will receive forgiveness and a great reward. 12 And whether you speak softly or proclaim it aloud; He indeed knows what lies within the hearts! 13 Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted? 14
