The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they differ? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
