Al-Naze'aat 2 of 2
What! Are ye the more difficult to create or the heaven (above)? (Allah) hath constructed it: 27 by raising its vault high and fashioning it flawlessly, 28 Its night doth He endow with darkness, and its splendour doth He bring out (with light). 29 After this, He spread out the earth, 30 He brought forth from it its water and its pasturage. 31 and the mountains He set firm, 32 an enjoyment for you and your herds. 33 But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity - 34 The day when man will call to mind his (whole) endeavour, 35 And hell will be made visible to all those who can see. 36 then as for him who was insolent 37 And had preferred the life of this world, 38 The Abode will be Hell-Fire; 39 But as for him who feared the Station of his Lord and forbade the soul its caprice, 40 Then indeed Paradise only is his destination. 41 They ask thee about the Hour,-'When will be its appointed time? 42 In what [position] are you that you should mention it? 43 To your Lord is the goal of it. 44 Your duty is only to warn him who fears it. 45 On the Day when they see it, they will feel as if they had tarried in this world for only one evening or one morning. 46

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
