He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fearfully, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 then the way eased for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
