He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attend to him, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And hath fear, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble, pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
