The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
