The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
