The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and so am I: 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
