Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
