Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
