Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
