Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains how they have been established? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
