The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
