The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The All-merciful 1 Hath made known the Qur'an. 2 Created man, 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
