The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
