The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 for a great Day, 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
