The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
