The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
