He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 You pay full attention, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 How We pour water in showers 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and pastures 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
