The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
