He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
