Believers, obey God and His Messengers and do not turn away from Him when you hear (His commands). 20 And do not be like those who say, "We have heard," while they do not hear. 21 ۞ the worst creatures in God's eyes are those who are deaf and dumb, and who possess no understanding. 22 Had Allah known any good in them, He would have made them hear. And if He had made them hear, they would [still] have turned away, while they were refusing. 23 O believers, respond to God and the Messenger when He calls you unto that which will give you life; and know that God stands between a man and his heart, and that to Him you shall be mustered. 24 And beware of an affliction that will not smite exclusively those among you who have done wrong. Know that God is severe in exacting retribution. 25 And remember when you were few, deemed weak in the land, fearing lest people might carry you off by force, but He sheltered you and strengthened you with His aid and gave you of the good things that you may give thanks. 26 O ye that believe! betray not the trust of Allah and the Messenger, nor misappropriate knowingly things entrusted to you. 27 Know well that your belongings and your children are but a trial, and that with Allah there is a mighty reward. 28
