The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 who seeks to drive you out from your land. What would you have us do?' 110 Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 And the magicians came to Firaun, and said, “Will we get some reward if we are victorious?” 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said: "O Moses! wilt thou throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" 115 He [Musa (Moses)] said: "Throw you (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them, and they displayed a great magic. 116 Then We inspired Moses, saying, "Throw down your staff." And it immediately swallowed up their false devices. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 So they were defeated there and then, and were returned disgraced. 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 and said, "We believe in the Lord of the Universe, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I shall assuredly cut off alternately your hands and feet, then I shall crucify you all together.' 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 Thou takest vengeance on us only forasmuch as we believed the tokens of our Lord when they came unto us. Our Lord! Vouchsafe unto us steadfastness and make us die as men who have surrendered (unto Thee). 126
