He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attended to him, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
