Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Woe to the liars 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking that which their Lord will vouchsafe unto hem. Verily they have been before that well-doers. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness, 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
