He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and in awe of God 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 mother, father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
