▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 3 of 3
۞ I swear by the setting of the stars 75 And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great. 76 That this is indeed a qur'an Most Honourable, 77 In a Book kept hidden 78 which none but the pure [of heart] can touch: 79 a sending down from the Lord of all Being. 80 Would you, now, look down with disdain on a tiding like this, 81 You live by calling it a lie. 82 Why, then, when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 83 And ye the while (sit) looking on,- 84 But We are nearer to him than ye, and yet see not,- 85 Why then, if ye are not in bondage (unto Us), 86 Can you not bring him back? (Answer) if you are truthful 87 But if he [the dying person] is one of those brought near to God, 88 happiness [awaits him in the life to come,] and inner fulfillment, and a garden of bliss. 89 And if he (the dying person) be of those on the Right Hand, 90 (For him is the salutation), "Peace be unto thee", from the Companions of the Right Hand. 91 If it is of those who have rejected the Truth and have gone astray, 92 then he will be served boiling water, 93 And burning in Hell-Fire. 94 This is indeed the indubitable truth. 95 Then praise your Lord, the most supreme. 96

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
