Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 a warning to humans, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
