The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
