The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
